[tex-live] Install file of the TL should have unique name

20 students on the same basestation, no good. The USBs work a lot better.

Transfer times have improved a bit after we bought some USB3 sticks.

I'll test Denis' method. So far the method of having tlnet on USB have worked just fine. They copy tlnet folder to HD, with the excuse that Windows is slow to install from USB, then pass on the USB.

Having 20 USB sticks to choose from does not give much waiting time

Am I right in assuming that once the ISO is loaded, the installation time from the mounted iso is more or less the same compared to installting from tlnet on HD? ie the gain comes from the ISO being faster to copy.

NTFS is known to be slow when transfering lots of small files. If you
expect that users will copy the installation, ISO will be better. If
the students will not copy it and install directly, it should be
comparable because they have to write the files anyway.

If you have no network in the class, have you tried to use Raspberry
PI as the installation source? You can use even USB WiFi AP in it. I
have not tried it under heavy load so I do not know how stable it is.
