[tex-live] Makeindex, version 2.15 [TeX Live 2010] (kpathsea + Thai support)

This is the version present in my TeX Live 2013 installation (Windows 7
Ultimate, 32-bit) , but it is introducing unwanted line-breaks in the
output file, preventing \item from reliably using line-end as final
delimiter.

\begin{theindex}

  \item Athens, National Library, Metochion of Panagios Taphos MS. 1,
part 3,
		94

\end{theindex}

with an unwanted linebreak before the page number.

Can anyone advise, please ?
