Hi Karl,
is it feasible/reasonable to add an option --nostrip to the
trunk/Build/source/Build shell script and adapt the makefiles
accordingly? 

Since all we need is to avoid that the program strip(1) is run, I
suppose that a platform-independent solution is possible.
