Re: readline and asymptote

On the Mac, we have always compiled asy with static libraries for readline, Fast Fourier Transform Library, and GNU Scientific Library. I mentioned my method to Karl, who found it "baroque", and I won't describe it here. Karl suggested an easier way: install the libraries and include files in a directory in $HOME and then instruct the asymptote build system to also look there. The first half was easy, but I had trouble setting Environment Variables to make the second half work. That's where I was when Karl wrote his note. But now, following a suggestion of Karl, the whole business works. I'd be happy to provide the easy recipe to anyone who wants, but I suspect most readers can do this themselves.
