[tex-live] texlive: personal macros

Philip,

Did you install using MacTeX-2017?

If so, ~/texmf will not work, but /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local and ~/Library/texmf will work. These locations must have the same directory structure as TeX Live. So tex can find files in (or files in folders in)

	~/Library/texmf/tex

and pdflatex can find files in (or files in folders in)

	~/Library/texmf/tex/latex

Bibtex files are a special case; see the Q & A link on http://tug.org/mactex <http://tug.org/mactex>


Note that files in ~/Library/texmf will be immediately visible, but /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local requires running texhash afterward.
