Nothing against texlive, but I think you might have better luck if
you just grabbed Gerben Wierda's tetex distribution and Richard
Koch's TeXshop to get started. Should be linked to from www.tug.org
or findable w/ Google.
Although Mac OS X is freebsd, it's a rather tweaked setup, on a
case-insensitive filesystem, and using Unix software frequently
involves some further tweaking. Check the Fink and other projects for
packaging Unix software for Mac OS X for details.
