this is completely inappropriate to the tetex list, which is about
specific matters related to a distribution.  redirected to texhax,
where you're even more likely to encounter "radical" thinkers, i would
guess.

the "line of output" is a concept that doesn't exist at the
programming interface.  the nearest i can think of, that uses that
sort of thing is the lineno package (ctan macros/latex/contrib/lineno)
