Have you tried anything like that?

Not familiar w/ Y&Y --- have you tried installing MikTeX or fptex from 
TeXLive?

Sounds like you've got a corrupted installation disk.... have you tried 
the Y&Y support list? listed at http://www.tug.org/yandy/
