Sorry that I see this so late.

Have you recognized that according to the ledmac
README afoot.sty from the arabtex CTAN
directory is necessary (at present)?

Below your question I have placed some earlier
considerations of mine which are probably obsolete.
I typed them before I saw the ledmac README.

Good luck,
Uwe Lueck.

I have been told that my ednotes does well
with Arab and Hebrew, but I can't offer (at present)
an analogue to ledmac. May be one could replace
the parallel thing with something like longtable, but
I expect this is clumsy. Or someone has suggested
to "emulate" the parallel thing by making _two_
documents, one for each language, one with even
page numbers, the other with odd ones. Moreover,
you seem to have typed the whole document already,
so changing would raise further difficulties. One could
redefine some commands for ednotes, but (L)EDMACS
\lemma command could not be replaced straightforwardly,
ednotes does this differently. (I have a web page
<http://ednotes.sty.de.vu> briefly comparing ledmac
with ednotes and offering further links.)
