[texhax] Redefining hyphenchar

Not a novice question at all!

One approach would be to redefine \hyphenchar,
as in

	\hyphenchar \font = 128

This will produce an "invisible" hyphen when used
with the CM fonts or with any other fonts in which
only the first 128 positions are populated.
