Dear Sir,

Please let me know how to span footnotes in title page alone for 2
columns and for the following pages footnotes should remain single column.

Since i have lot of floats, I picked \twocolumn instead of multicol

\documentclass[twocolumn]{article}
\begin{document}
\title{Demonstration}
\author{author\footnote{This footnote should span for two columns. But
totally disappears.}}
\twocolumn[\maketitle
\begin{abstract}
Sample abstract text.\footnote{This footnote should span for two
columns. Even this one totally disappears.}
\end{abstract}
]

\section{Intro}
This is to test.\footnote{This footnote should span to two columns. This
footnote should span to two columns.}

\pagebreak

This is to test.\footnote{Single column footnote, since they appear at
the second page}

\end{document}

Thanks,
Raj
