[texhax] Seeking help for LaTeX hyperref package

Hello
I apologize if this is not the right forum for this question. If not, could
you please direct me to the proper one.

I have been trying to get the hyperref package to work in Beamer, but have
been unable to get it to function properly.

I then tried just using the hyperref package in a simple LaTeX document, but
can't get that to work either.

I have tried searching every user manual and online FAQ I can find, but none
seem to help with getting it to work. I have been doing what they say should
work, but it doesn't, and have been unable to find anything online which helps
me debug my code.

I have Adobe Reader 7, and when I open other people's documents with
hyperlinks they work, so I am pretty sure it has something to do with the way
I am trying to invoke the hyperref package.

After my introductory documentclass stuff, I include the command
\usepackage{hyperref}.

I saw somewhere that it is recommended to include this command after all other
usepackage commands, so I have it as the last command before the begin
document and title stuff. I double-checked that I have the hyperref package,
and also ran the "Refresh FileName database" just to be sure LaTeX knows it is
there.

I have WinEdt 5.2, and to compile, I run LaTeX twice, then dvi->ps and finally
ps->pdf. The document will compile and open fine, but will not have any
hyperlink functionality.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide
