[texhax] documentclass help

Hi,
I am in the Indian Navy and am presently doing my MTech from IAT, Pune in
Lasers and Electro optics.
I have been using latex for generating my seminar reports and presentations
in beamer. I will finally be making my thesis too in latex. I am really
fascinated by latex and after I go back to my ship, wish to implement it in
service writing. All our correspondence, letters, fax, etc. have a
particular format and I wish to make a new documentclass or a package for
the same. However, I am quite clueless about making it. I need some
assistance for the same. Can you send me some material for getting started?
I would really appreciate it if you could.
