I have uploaded a new version of manyfoot on CTAN and send it you for the
evaluation and testing (.sty only). Full release will appear on CTAN in few
days.

Dear Mr. Lück,
     I just checked.  Indeed, there are no errors when I remove
setspace and all references to commands from setspace.  I think we are
very near a solution.
