Dear TeX users,

First, the annual TUG conference:
TUG 2006: Digital Typography and Electronic Publishing
   http://tug.org/tug2006
will take place from November 9-11, 2006, in Marrakesh, Morocco. Please
consider coming to the first TeX conference in Africa!

The scheduled presentations are now listed on the conference web site,
at http://www.ucam.ac.ma/fssm/tug2006/program.htm, along with a list of
participants, accomodation information, and the registration form.
Email tug2006 at tug.org with any questions, suggestions, problems.

Also, the 2006-3 issue of The PracTeX Journal has just been been
published. it includes introductions to the memoir and koma-script
classes, getting started with ConTeXt, a report on the just-concluded
Practical TeX 2006 conference, and more. Any articles suitable for the
PracTeX Journal audience are always welcome for upcoming issues -- email
pracjourn at tug.org.

On other regular topics, the next two issues of TUGboat are well
underway; they will be the proceedings of TUG 2006 and EuroTeX 2006,
along with regular-issue material. Articles for TUGboat, especially
introductory ones, are always welcome too; see http://tug.org/TUGboat.
And work towards TeX Live 2006 is also continuing, but no estimated
release date is possible to forecast at this point.

Finally, I am very happy to announce that Jon Breitenbucher has joined
the TUG board. Jon joins us from the College of Wooster in Ohio, where
he has been working to spread TeX usage among students and staff. His
report will soon be published in the Practical TeX 2006 proceedings.

If you are interested in running for the TUG board or president, 2007
will be a TUG election year. Details will be available soon.

As always, please don't hesitate to contact us (tug-news at tug.org) with
questions, suggestions, or information.

Happy TeXing,
Karl Berry (President) on behalf of the TUG Board
