[texhax] problem with \footnote{} in chapters

Hello. How are you.

I have a problem using \footnote{} in the chapters. I mean, when I  
write the following:

\documentclass[12pt,letterpaper]{book}

\begin{document}

\chapter{Hello...\protect\footnote{sometimes, used to begin a  
telephone conversation}}
\newpage
Hello everybody...

\end{document}

The header appears with the footnote number increased at one. In this  
case, 2.

So, How can I solve this LaTeX error?
