[texhax] seeking description of TeX *.exe for security review

Hi Ron,

Has anyone written up a brief description of the many *.exe
in any of the various distributions?

There are 389 files in bin/win32. No, I'm not aware of anything that
gives (say) a one-line description of each one. That would hardly prove
anything with respect to security, anyway.

The TL documentation describes some of the major programs, of course,
but I doubt that is anything your security people will be interested in.

Maybe the fact that the non-Windows TL is now included in various
GNU/Linux distributions, all of whom are very security-conscious, could
carry some weight?

What are other file extensions that may cause concern? *.dll?

I imagine so. .bat comes to mind also.

Good luck,
Karl
