[texhax] Segmentation fault in pdflatex

Hi,

Would anyone have any ideas how to solve, or look for causes of, the
following segmenetation fault:

# pdflatex thesis
(lots of output)
{/home/edsko/.texmf-var/fonts/map/pdftex/updmap/pdftex.map{Unicode.sfd}Segmentation fault

I'd provide more info, but I'm not sure what it relevant.. any pointers
would be appreciated!

(I can create the PDF through DVI, but then the microtype package
doesn't work optimally..)
