Fair point.  But of course, I'd expect the response to pushing the
"call lift" button to be to make me wait until the cable replacement
was complete, not to open the door for me to step into the unsupported
cab.  The equivalence being that, as I understand it, it's never a
good idea for a program to segfault, no matter how crazily the user
behaves.
