[texhax] double spacing footnotes

Hello,

I am trying to force latex to double space both the text and the  
footnotes of a document.  I have these in my document

\usepackage{setspace}
\renewcommand{\baselinestretch}{2}
\begin{doublespace}

*text is here*

\end{doublespace}

This makes the text double-spaced but not the footnotes.  Could you  
please suggest anything?
