[texhax] Beamer: Putting frames in minipage environment in article mode

According to the Beamer manual, the 'frame begin' and 'frame end'
templates can be used to add a minipage environment around frames in
article mode. However, when I try this:

  \setbeamertemplate{frame begin}{\begin{minipage}{1\linewidth}}
  \setbeamertemplate{frame end}{\end{minipage}}

I get an error:

  ! Extra }, or forgotten \endgroup.
  \endframe ->\egroup

  l.44 \end{frame}

So, obviosly, it was not that simple. What's wrong?
