[texhax] Transparency or reduced saturation using Graphicx ?

If I understood what you need, than the following code may help you (you
need the package tikz):

\begin{figure}
  \begin{*tikzpicture*}
    \node [opacity=0.15] {\includegraphics[...]{...}};
  \end{*tikzpicture*}
\end{figure}
