Friends, please, cool down a bit.

OK, Robin did not understand what really was the question. His answer was
off mark -- mind you, not necessarily unkind, just off the mark.

But, friends, this happens every day! It might be annoying, but why all the
hubub about it?

This is email. Even face to face there's so many ways to be misread, and
email lacks a lot of the communication channels face to face communication
holds. Please keep that in mind before second-guessing! (And the last one
goes to *all* sides in this controversy!)

And please keep in mind that, even though an answer might carry some
annoyance with it, it's still an answer. The poster spent the time reading
the question and answering it. It might not be a helpful answer, but it
still *is* an answer, usually given in good faith. It's unfair to discard
it just because it's not helpful -- maybe the answer is not, but the poster
still tried to be!

I did not address you as a friend by chance. Please keep in mind all
regular readers of this list are at least friends once removed, connected
by a wonderful program suite called TeX.

Just my thoughts (or, more precisely, an attempt at expressing them),
