Hi Joan.

this seems quite a common request in a Banana dominated world, but as
well a sound solution seems impossible (how would one drop the
advantages of TeX et al. for some arbitrary, ever-changing subsystem of
a specialized, though almost monopolic, operating system)

After trying several more direct methods as mentioned by others on this
thread, I was quite successful when converting a PDF generated with Tex
et al. to a doc or rtf document using commercial, but relatively cheap,
pdf2doc converters. Two of them even kept the correct layout except for
the availability of some fonts.

The converters I used are SolidConverter, which keeps the layout as-is
from the PDF putting several µs-doc-boxes around the text, and
PDFConverter Professional, with an almost similar result. Since my
experience with these tools is already some years ago, this route
(TeX->PDF->.doc) may have matured even more now.
