I do not understand this ...

What about: 

    \begin{prop}\label{T:that-nasty}
    ... \tag{\thetheorem.1}... \tag{\thetheorem.2}...
    \end{prop}
    ... referring to equation~\ref{T:that-nasty}.1... 
    ... referring to equation~\ref{T:that-nasty}.2...
