[texhax] longtable in multicolumn environment - reply at convenience

Dear Sir,
We, students from IISER-Mohali, India, having a query regarding the
longtable environment/command in latex. We have a really long narrow table
(with three columns and 600 rows). Using longtable in latex, we can
tabulate the entries in a single table, which extends over about 18 pages,
but in each page, (the table is centered and) there are only three
columns, thereby leaving a lot of blank space (on the sides). Could you
suggest any environment where the table can come in multiple columns in
the same page. When we tried using longtable in a twosided environment,
there were errors.
