The TeX User's Group is the best support, and at the various meetings which it hosts will often offer training workshops:
www.tug.org
There's also an article on it:

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a group local to you.
There are a number of consultants, some of whom will offer training:
http://www.tug.org/consultants.html
The best things to do are to start w/ the available documentation:
http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/lshort/english/lshort.pdf
and the printed _LaTeX Companion, 2nd Edition_:

Some extracts of that are available here:
http://www.latex-project.org/guides/books.html
as well as various other books.
lshort will cover the basics, and the Companion is an invaluable reference / resource, the balance will depend on the specifics of what you need.
If you need to handle math, then you'll definitely want:
Math Into LaTeX:
http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/info/mil/mil.pdf
http://www.amazon.com/Math-Into-LaTeX-George-Grätzer/dp/0817641319
and the Comprehensive Symbols List:
http://mirror.ctan.org/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-letter.pdf
If you wanted a brief introductory workshop and some help w/ macros, or had some specific needs related to printing, I'm just up in Pennsylvania and would be glad to drive down.
