Actually the problem for me is not the GPL, but the commercial license of
Ghostscript.  That puts restrictions on redistributing the software, though
I don't know the details.

I'm certainly not a lawyer, but the wording of the statement does not appear
to limit the redistribution rights to just one portion of XeTeX or another.


In any case, this is somewhat off my original topic.  Is there any other
way, more direct than PSTricks, to, for example, apply a shear transform to
a block of text on a page?
