With "Sweave" there is an awesome package for R. It allows you to run the
"sweave" command from R which takes R code-snippets from a single source
document (the snippets are enclosed in noweb syntax), runs them in the
background and inserts the results in the TeX file. I am not aware of such
a solution for Octave, but if you want to know more, check the following
