[texhax] Footnotes in separate file

Hi. I have written another footnote and endnote LaTeX package for
personal use. My package allows me to typeset a footnote or endnote
without having to insert its text into the sentence where the mark is.
But it is not just the \footnotemark and \footnotetext approach.
For one thing, the notes can, but need not, be defined all of them in
a separate file, and in no particular order at that.
That might be useful if your document has too many notes cluttering up
the code, or as is often the case with philosophers and people from
the humanities in general, if some of them are so long as to make
reading the main body difficult.¹
My question is: is this feature already provided by another package?
I could not find such thing at CTAN.
The package fits my needs as it is, but I will try to improve the
code, write the documentation, and make it available somewhere only if
that feature is not well known or trivial.
Thank you,
Eduardo
