[texhax] Bug in amsmath: footnote in intertext

i will put this on the list of amsmath features
to be investigated, but i believe it will in
the end be declared a feature.  the multi-line
alignments in amsmath must all be stored in
boxes in order to perform necessary calculations
(width, and whether or not -- and where -- there
is space for equation numbers), and it's a
feature of tex itself that footnotes get "lost"
when issued in a box.

\footnotemark / \footnotetext is the strategy
we recommend to authors who need to use such
methods.
