[texhax] compilation error ( debian + texlive )

I'll check latexmk later.

I have installed rubber without any of
debian TL packages. The only installation on the machine was the ctan
one, installed via the ctan installer.

I tend to use latexmk instead of rubber, it comes with TUG TL.

have you tried installing rubber without the recommended packages? I don't think it depends on them directly.

Otherwise have you installed the texlive_local equivs? see http://www.tug.org/texlive/debian.html
