That seems to work and makes perfect sense.  I'll have to look at the explanation, as all those 0 arguments in a row are extremely confusing given that they can only be understood positionally.

That didn't work, but only because the footnote's nested "\end{adjustwidth}" needs to be between the last two braces instead of in front of them.  The first brace in my example ended the boldface group.  Once I got that figured out, it seems to work.

But I'm trying to avoid having to do this in every footnote, so the above \changepage solution seems more general.
