[texhax] Having trouble with roman numerals

Hello, I'm having trouble getting the numbering
on the front pages to be roman numerals.
Here's the text:

Here's the version of latex:

I'm running Funtoo linux.
If you could also tell me how to make a copyright
it would save me another post (the current method
I had to comment out because it did not work).
There are some guides on my computer from various
latex packages that do have roman numerals in them,
though I can't be certain that they were not pregenerated.
