if you were just using plain tex

then any standard LaTeX installation provide the Knuth plain tex

You can just go to tug.org/texlive and download it for free. If you only need plain tex there is an option for that (use the advanced installer) such that you do not need to install the entire LaTeX

TeXLive is free

Subject: [texhax] TeX query

I used this TeX typesetting program from 1985 - 1995 and wish to know if it is possible to purchase (or obtain free) this now out-dated application. Unfortunately after I left the University and stopped using my own home program and as it was being overtaken by LaTeX, plus moving to Australia I threw all my original discs out!! The worst thing I could have done as I sorely miss it. I am desperate to obtain a copy again and as I am conversant with this application it would be easy for me to start typesetting my own work for printing etc.

If you are able to give me a website or contact and help in anyway I would be so grateful and thank you very much for any help I receive.

Please reply to my email: kiwiblue7 at yahoo.com.au with TeX enquiry in subject line and reply using this email.

Yours very sincerely,
Lynette Chase
