No, no python-related changes have been included in that release yet.

There might be other problems that I'm not aware of, but the
compilation works for me (when done outside of TL tree).

Anyone interested in python3 should take the sources from GitHub. I
agree that it makes absolutely no sense to track development inside
the TL sources. I was just hoping that someone else might be willing
to step in and help with testing/bugfixing.
