[XeTeX] XeLaTeX not working after installing TeXLive 2005

It's a XeTeX bug, for which a temporary fix has been published by 
Jonathan Kew (until a new fixed version of XeTeX is released):

The file texmf.cnf in question has been overwritten by the TL2005 
install, hence your problem.
