Yes, very!
That all makes perfect sense.

So at this stage, do you think it would be helpful to define 40 script 
names and 382 language names for easy access via fontspec? Or is the 
underlying support simply not there yet?

As it happens, actually doing the implementation in fontspec is 
trivial; I've done it already. But the number of lines of code in the 
package have now increased by 20% just to support these features :)
