Well, Adobe has never provided Minion Expert in .ttf format --- it
was illicitly distributed on at least one CD-ROM bundled w/ a book
though --- and the OP didn't state something like, ``I'm using a .ttf
which I've converted from the Type 1 I got from Adobe''. The
only .ttfs which Adobe has done are the Web-oriented fonts which they
made available ages ago, and Minion Web didn't have a matching Expert
font.
While you could combine these, (or even the original Type 1 fonts) to
get a .otf, it's still not as nice as using the .otf as done by Adobe
--- it includes new / re-drawn ligatures (fj comes to mind) and
improved spacing &c.
It's well worth up-dating to it IMO.
