Pls. excuse my ignorance :-(
Didn't know fontspec is describing things?

Well, I plan to simply enter text in utf-8 or use LyX's export to LaTeX
feature and process document with xetex.
In the past, for Croatian & Sanskrit transliteration the text was full
of stuff like: \=a to get ā or \'c for ć.

Thanks. By skimming over fontspec doc, it looks I might need xunicode
packages, as well as xltxtra (to use old CM & co. fonts & test xetex
with old documents.)
Let me read available docs 1st ;)
