[XeTeX] xelatex and DejaVu Sans

how can i do that?
I dont found anything in the documentation.
I can only say to load the font with the operating system or specify a 
special directory. But if i use a special directory, e.g. ~/.fonts it 
works only with linux but not with windows. So i can't use this in a 
package.
