[XeTeX] Setting alphanumerical math font

I would like to use some (OpenType) font to set just
the alphanumerical characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9 in math
mode. Is there a simple way to do this in XeTeX? I am
not interested in full Unicode support; the integral
signs etc. in computer modern look good enough for me.
I would like to get the sentence "Let $n$ be a
variable" to look good, where I can set the font for
the $n$.
I realize that this question must have been asked a
lot of times, but I've searched for hours and couldn't
find an answer. I'm using OSX with TeXLive 2007.
Regards,
Tammo Jan
