Howdy,

Do you have files in ~/Library/texmf/ (where ~ is you HOME folder)?  
How about in /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/ (go there using the Go- 
 >Go To Folder menu item in Finder)? How about ~/.texlive2008 folder  
(use the Go To Folder menu item again)? In particular is there a web2c  
subdirectory in either of those locations?
