[XeTeX] Strange problem with Mr. Vafa's xmoderncv class

Why didn't you install texlive 2008?

Sounds more like a problem with the fontmap or the fonts. Which
output driver are you using? Did you try xdvipdfmx?

xelatex --output-driver=xdvipdfmx file


And what fonts are you actually using? complete minimal example?

No. xdv is an intermediary format which you can't view.
