You don't need to use such a font! You can choose your font for Tamil
text and another font for English text.

For instance:

\setmainfont[Mapping=tex-text]{Linux Libertine}

\newcommand\tamil{\fontspec[Script=Tamil,Scale=1]{Lohit Tamil}}

In the preamble.

then your main text is in English and if you want to switch to Tamil:

{\tamil your Tamil text}
