[XeTeX] Page is "stuck" in A4 type

Here's the fault – and not loading geometry.

 From installing TeX Live (or Mac TeX) you have set a default paper  
format (see: tlmgr paper). To successfully change this on a per  
document basis you can set a differing paper size either in the  
options of \documentclass or when loading geometry. But the latter  
package has to be loaded.
