It's actually GNU Emacs and XEmacs. There are also specialised  
variants, based on GNU Emacs, like NTEmacs, Carbon Emacs, "NS or Cocoa  
Emacs", "AppKit Emacs", Emacs.app,...

No, it's more than that. Compose o / will produce ø, compose L / will  
produce Ł, compose Y = gives ¥, compose o c will give ©, and many,
