Add the following special to the page, where you want to have
the effect:
  \special{pdf: put @thispage <</Trans<</S/Dissolve>>>>}
See the PDF specification for the contents of dictionary /Trans.

It works in AR5/Linux. In AR7/Linux and AR8/Linux the effects
are active in full screen mode only.
