Thanks a lot for the answer. Actually, the looping itself is not a
problem. I was trying to modify Will Robertson's document
(http://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/unicode-math/unimath-symbols.pdf)
with
  <unicode code><printed glyph><tex control sequence><unicode description>
where all the looping has already been done. I would only like to add
another printed glyph in a different font to compare two different
OpenType Math fonts. Rearranging page layout is not really an option
since I cannot put Unicode descriptions next to glyphs.

In that case it is better to create two separate documents and compare
them face-to-face with each other.

Your solution somewhat works to some extent because it would only
change the font every 16 characters or even more. If I change it for
every single character then it takes *a looooooooooong* time to
compile.

I'm still trying to decipher Ulrike's answer (bearing in mind that I
don't speak any latex 3 at all).
