Modern printer (driver)s are indeed extremely clever at such things,
as are commercial printers such as Fileprint.Org whom I use
a great deal.  I do not remember the last time I had to manually
worry about imposition, but for companies such as Fileprint scaling
still requires to be carried out in advance of job submission, whereas
with my Dell 3310 and my HP CP1215 I can do both booklet imposition
and scaling within the printer (or within the printer driver).
